Career Fair

We partnered with Huntington County Community School Corporation for the 2009 Career Fair. The fair was held at Huntington North's L-shaped Auditorium section of the field house. On Sept. 22. 2009, Life Long Learning presented the first annual Career Fair partnered with HCCSC. The high school students attended the fair from 8 am – 2:45 and the adult population attended from 3:30 – 6:00.

The fair was set up in designated pods that focused on specific career choices: manufacturing, professional, healthcare, social services, government, and a pod for educational resources such as Huntington University, Ivy Tech and Indiana Tech.

Brochure

One of our projects, since completing this year’s Career Fair, is to create a brochure that emphasizes the many Life Long Learning courses that are available in the Huntington County and distribute it across Huntington County. We are pleased to gather this information for your benefit and to introduce you to what is available in our County. It is an exciting time and we hope that if you are an educational institution and have courses available, you will share them with us.

Set out to do something you don’t know how. Forced learning in this way can be fun and challenging. If you don’t know anything about computers, try building one. If you consider yourself a horrible artist, try a painting. If you have never made crafts, consider scrap booking.

And if you always wanted to go to college, call and schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor. Ask questions and understand what the college has to offer. If you feel comfortable in your surroundings, fill out the application before you walk out the door.

We all have to-do lists. These are the tasks we need to accomplish. Try to also have a “to-learn” list. On it you can write ideas for new areas of study. Maybe you would like to take up a new language, learn a skill or read the collective works of Shakespeare. Whatever motivates you, write it down.
