That date and site will be the closing ceremony of the Huntington YMCA's Battle of the Businesses, while observing that event stop by and see what is available to you to permit you to have learning opportunities. Open up your Possibility Network. Thanks to Huntington Township Trustee, Tim Guy,the Township Board, the Huntington YMCA, and The Possibility Network for permitting this opportunity to occur.

We are also working with the Paradox group of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce, a network of CEOs, Huntington College, and the Northeast Indiana Chamber Coalition to develop a web-based clearinghouse for interns and coops accessible to colleges, vocational-technical schools, students and employers. Very Shortly the InernNet Organization will be available for use by Huntington area groups.

Life-Long Learning of Huntington County, Inc. is conducting a sustaining membership drive. The goal is to raise enough funds to hire a part-time executive director who can co-ordinate activities and promote the mission of Life-Long Learning.

The Huntington County Training Coalition (HCTC) is in place and taking advantage of a Department of Workforce Development Incumbent Worker training grant. The $178,500 grant will permit the six participating businesses and their employees to up grade their skills and abilities. Homier Distribution, IMCO, Breyer-Good Humor, Bippus State Bank, Wayne Metal, and Shuttleworth, Inc. worked with Life Long Learning, IvyTech State College and the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce worked to put together this program that will lead to Career Development Certificates for maintenance, Microsoft Office Systems certification, or Quality Control programs. The Huntington Aluminum Training Coalition (HATC) is in the process of forming now. Hayes-Lemmerz, Transwheel and General Aluminum are building off of the success of the HCTC group that was previously award an incumbent worker training grant. This is another in efforts of Life Long Learning to keep life long learning a priority in Huntington County. The thrust of this grant will be to earn Career Development Certificates for those skills that are needed to work successfully in the aluminum industry.
